Check out how a neighborhood eliminated runoff by changing the landscape.

See examples of integrating LID into traditional urban neighborhood land use patterns. Examples from the award winning High Point Redevelopment Community where LID has proved to be a positive experience for both home sales and community connections. Other examples will include the concept planning that led to the parking lot retrofits that are currently under construction at Northgate Mall.

11:30AM – 12:15PM  What Are the Rules & How Do You Get Through the Permit Process?  Randy Sleight, (Chief Engineer, Snohomish County Planning Development Services) & Tom Campbell, (Owner/Manager, Clearwater Commons LID Development)  “An Interesting Conversation”  What are the latest LID regulations and how do you get through the process. Randy will share a Snohomish County  perspective in establishing LID regulations. Tom is in the midst of finalizing an application using the rules that Randy is managing. They will share how this process is working and ideas for improvements.

12:15 – 1:15PM          Lunch and Tours of Jamestown LID Project   During the lunch break there will be a short site visit to a parking lot and raingarden on nearby Correa Road. The tour will be led by Jay Pederson of Four Seasons Engineering, who designed the project.


1:15 – 2:00PM            Making Regulations LID and Builder Friendly: The LID Local Regulation Assistance Project  Bruce Wulkan (Puget Sound Partnership, Program Manager for Stormwater and Combined Sewer Overflows,)  Learn how the Puget Sound Partnership is helping local governments to create user-friendly stormwater regulations and LID guidelines.

2:45 – 3:00PM        New Technology - Pervious Concrete   Andy Marks  (Director, Puget Sound Concrete Specifications Council)  Does pervious concrete work? What are the cost & benefits? Are old maintenance issues resolved? Learn the “nuts and bolts” about this LID product.
     
3:30 - 4:00PM               Pervious Asphalt – Benefits, Costs, Construction Techniques, and Maintenance   David Bell   (Licensed Civil Engineer and Quality Control Manager for Lakeside Industries)  Learn about this cost effective material for on-site stormwater control.

Participate in an upcoming conversation between the building community and local government officials on streamlining the LID permit process.  This facilitated workshop will provide a forum for development professionals to provide input on the development process, rank LID features and benefits, and suggest amendments to county and city codes.
